We’re a not-for-profit organisation, run by volunteers, so your contribution helps the AHWA grow and continue to support the horror genre in Australia and New Zealand. We have big plans for the AHWA in 2020 and hope you will come along for the ride.
The annual contribution for membership is $40, payable every January.
Throughout the year the AHWA provides a range of services and benefits, including a Mentorship Program, the Australian Shadows Awards, and the Short Story and Flash Fiction competition. The Association also publishes the fiction magazine, Midnight Echo, at least once a year.
Once your membership and payment has been confirmed, you can connect with the community online in the Australasian Horror Writers Association Members Facebook group. Sign in, say hello, and share your love of all things horror. Through this members-only group, you can also connect with our regional chapters and learn what’s happening in your area. If you’re not on FB, let us know your preferred means of contact – we want to make sure we can stay in touch and keep you in the loop with any benefits, activities or events you might be interested in.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on how the AHWA can best support its members, and develop and promote the genre across the region. If you’re keen to help out, in even a small way, we’d love you to get involved. Are you interested in establishing a local meet-up of members in your area, or to gather at a convention? How would you feel about writing book reviews or articles for our website? Does mentoring or mentorship appeal? If you’re unable to help right now, no worries, we’d still appreciate your suggestions.
